# Hyperlink v2: open-source Tiptap 3 link extension with autolink and popovers

Hi everyone,

After a lot of work, testing, and attention to the small UX details, I’m genuinely happy to release **v2 of `@docs.plus/extension-hyperlink`** , an open-source hyperlink extension for Tiptap 3.

Creating a link mark is straightforward, but a polished hyperlink experience also needs URL detection, keyboard commands, paste handling, editing controls, and safe URL validation. This extension brings those pieces together in one configurable workflow.

### Key features

- Autolinking for domains, email addresses, and phone numbers

- `Mod-K` keyboard shortcut for creating links

- Link selected text by pasting a URL

- Optional create, preview, and edit link popovers

- Copy, edit, and unlink actions

- Remove links without losing text formatting

- Protection against unsafe URL schemes at every write boundary

- Custom URL validation and autolink rules

- Support for 50+ URL and application schemes

- Markdown hyperlink import and export

- Prebuilt light and dark UI, or fully custom popovers

Install the Tiptap hyperlink extension:
